Never make edits to your original photo. Before you start to edit a photo, duplicate it first. Then, apply your edits to the duplicate. By using duplicates, you’ll never experience the frustration of discovering that you’ve destroyed a perfectly fine photo by clumsy edits.

To duplicate a photo in Photoshop Elements:

  1. Open the original photo in the Full Editor.
  2. From the File menu, select Duplicate. A duplicate image is displayed in the Editor window.

To duplicate a photo in Paint Shop Pro:

  1. Open the original photo.
  2. From the File menu, select Save As.
  3. Enter a new name for the copy and click Save. The duplicate is displayed in the workspace.
