To gain deeper knowledge of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements, you'll need some direction. There are about a zillion very good Photoshop books in print that can start you on the right path - I recommend the following books.
- Any Photoshop books by Scott Kelby or Matt Kloskowski
- Any book authored by Scott Kelby or Matt Kloskowski is a sure winner. Scott Kelby is Editor-in-Chief of Photoshop User magazine and President of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP). Matt Kloskowski is the Education and Curriculum Developer for NAPP and editor-in-chief of the Photoshop Elements Techniques newsletter.
- Any book in the Photoshop Cookbook series by O'Reilly Press
- These books explain blending modes, filter effects and other Photoshop features in great detail and also provide recipes for interesting effects.
- Adobe Photoshop Unmasked
- This book by Nigel French explains the art and science of selections, layers, and paths.
- Adobe Photoshop Killer Tips series
- These books, for Photoshop 6 through CS2, provide lots of quick tips to help make you more efficient at using Photoshop. Even older versions of these books contain tips that are relevant to the current version of Photoshop.
- Photoshop CS3 for Windows and Macintosh: Visual QuickStart Guide
- Authors: Elaine Weinmann, Peter Lourekas. The Visual Quickstart Guides are well-written, task-oriented manuals. You'll refer to this book frequently for that task you've forgotten or want to learn quickly.
