Greeting card

Using one of Photoshop Elements' built-in projects, make a single-fold greeting card. In previous steps, we have added a background, a graphic embellishment and text. In Step 6, we will resize the canvas to change a postcard to a single-fold greeting card.

Project Steps

Follow these steps to create a greeting card.

Step 1: Start a Greeting Card project and specify card options.
Step 2: Add a background.
Step 3: Add a graphic.
Step 4: Add text.
Step 5: Make edits.
Step 6: Resize the canvas.
Step 7: Print the card.

Step 6: Resize the Greeting Card

  1. From the Image menu, select Resize, then Canvas Size. The Canvas Size dialogue box is displayed:

    Resize the canvas
  2. Double the dimension of the smallest side of the card. For example, if your card is a 4x6" vertical card, resize the canvas to 8x6". If your card is a 5x7" vertical card, resize the canvas to 10x7".
  3. In the Anchor section, position the card so that it is displayed on the right side of the extended canvas (if card is vertical) or the bottom of the extended canvas (if card is horizontal).
  4. Click OK.

Tips

After you resize the card, you can then add text or graphics to the back of the card as desired. The inside card will be blank.

Do you want to add text to the inside of the card? An easy and elegant way to do this is to create another file with the same resized dimensions, then add your text and graphics where appropriate. Print the "inner card" on elegant textured paper and use a thin line of paper glue to attach it to the outer card at the fold.
