Greeting card

Using one of Photoshop Elements' built-in projects, make a single-fold greeting card. In previous steps, we have added a background, a graphic embellishment and text. In Step 5, we will make further edits using the Full Editor. We will add drop shadows to the text and the graphic and reposition the text and graphic on the card.

Project Steps

Follow these steps to create a greeting card.

Step 1: Start a Greeting Card project and specify card options.
Step 2: Add a background.
Step 3: Add a graphic.
Step 4: Add text.
Step 5: Make edits.
Step 6: Resize the canvas.
Step 7: Print the card.

Step 5: Make Edits

  1. Select the Edit tab, then click Full. The greeting card is displayed in the Full Editor. The following image shows the Layers palette in the greeting card project:

  2. Select the Move tool, then select the text layer. Reposition the text on the card. Optionally, you can use press Ctrl+T to display the transform box and resize or rotate the text if needed.
  3. Select the Move tool, then select the graphic layer. Reposition the graphic on the card. Optionally, you can use press Ctrl+T to display the transform box and resize or rotate the graphic if needed.
  4. To add a drop shadow to the graphic:

    1. In the Layers palette, select the graphic layer.
    2. Open the Effects palette. The following image shows the Effects palette:

    3. In the Effects palette, click the Layer Styles button, then select Drop Shadows from the drop-down list.
    4. Select a drop shadow type.
    5. Click Apply.
  5. To apply the same drop shadow to the text, repeat the previous step with the text layer selected.
