Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 6

September 25, 2008

Using one of Photoshop Elements' built-in projects, make a single-fold greeting card. By default, the Greeting Card project makes a postcard, but we will modify the project to make a folded card that is blank inside.

Project Steps

Follow these steps to create a greeting card.

Step 1: Start a Greeting Card project and specify card options.
Step 2: Add a background.
Step 3: Add a graphic.
Step 4: Add text.
Step 5: Make edits.
Step 6: Resize the canvas.
Step 7: Print the card.

Before You Begin

Before you start the greeting card project, open any photos that you want to include in your card in Photoshop Elements. In this example, we used one photo, but you can use multiple photos and select a layout that fits your photo count.

Step 1: Start a Greeting Card project.

  1. In the Photoshop Elements Editor, click the Create tab, then click Projects.
  2. Click More Options, then click Greeting Card.

    Create tab
  3. In the Greeting Card dialogue, select a page size, either 5x7 inches or 4x6 inches.
  4. Select a theme for the project. The theme will determine how the photos are framed, and in some themes, the background. In this example, we used the Simple Vintage theme to put a vintage frame around photos.
  5. Select a layout for the project. The layout determines how the photos are positioned on the page. In this example, we used the 1 Titled Vertical layout.
  6. Check Auto-Fill with Project Bin Photos to add any open photos in your photo bin to the page.
  7. Click Done. Photoshop Elements includes your photos and generates a card.

    1. Double-click the photo to display a transform box and picture options slider.
    2. Use the transform box or slider to resize the photo and reposition it in the frame.
    3. Optionally, click the folder icon on the picture options slider to replace the photo with a different photo.
    4. When you are finished, click OK (green checkmark).
